A while back I posted about the sad case of the refugees making their way in droves to Sicily. On an island in which 14% of the population is unemployed and youth unemployment is 42%, how can this island and these people help the 170,000+ migrants that have reached their shores. Well, here is a good news story. I just read a posting on the Sicilian Donkey blog. It is based on this Al Jazeera article. I am trying to hunt down a contact for AccoglieRete, the organization helping migrant orphans, to find out what others can do, even if they can’t take guardianship of one of these children. I will post later what I find, and if you know how to reach them, please leave a comment!
